Experts Warn Against Expropriation Without Compensation

The conference on Security of Property Rights hosted by the Free Market Foundation has heard that South Africa would go the Zimbabwe route should it go ahead to implement the expropriation of land without compensation.
The two-day conference has drawn experts from Venezuela, India and African states.
World experts on land reform have warned against South Africa's proposed expropriation of land without compensation - they say that the policy could lead to the country's self-destruction.
Experts warned that if South Africa follows and allows the EWC, then that would mean a self-destruction of the country.
Expert from Zimbabwe warned South Africa to take lessons from his homeland where Mugabe followed EWC to the destruction of the Zimbabwean economy.
Ghanaian expert cautioned the country to prepare for a catastrophic investment if the land policy is legitimised. He said Ghana has already benefited from the companies who left South Africa during years of former President Zuma’s tenure.
