Free speech is a cherished idea and fundamental human right in most of liberal and civilised societies.
Freedom of speech is a constitutional right in most liberal democratic nations with the supreme constitution and the Rule of Law.
Most people have fought and died for freedom of speech and now in recent times most people and nations may be in danger of losing it.
Greg notes a very alarming reality: That a generation is raised not to believe in freedom of speech, but rather that they should have freedom FROM speech, from speech they dislike!!!
In Europe a “sensitivity-based” censorship attempts to ban anything deemed hateful or even just hurtful, and to ban criticism of religion, especially Islam.
Popular academic theories encourage students to scrutinise speech for microaggressions. Any statement that may be constructed as: Racially insensitive, Classist, Sexist, and Otherwise un-PC.
Our society NEEDS candour and freedom of speech, not freedom from speech.
