Liberalism

  • In this 2-minute video, Thomas Sowell discusses liberalism in general and Republican politics in particular.
  • He discusses the LGBTIQ+ issues from the liberal point of view.
  • The American constitution is liberal in a sense that it gives room for all forms of sexual expressions and lifestyles to be protected and recognised by the law.
  • He is critical of the Republicans for their conservative views that wishes to do away with liberal lifestyles such as the queer sexualities.
  • Republicans should not promote political views, rather should promote constitutionalism, rule of law, and individual freedoms of people.
  • Individual libertarian philosophy promotes an idea that people should be free to choose a kind of lifestyle that they choose to live if this is not against the law and can be justified and balanced against the rights of other individuals.
  • Liberty and freedom should be sought after, for this will encourage a spirit of toleration and embracing the views of the minority rights, minority religions and other social, political, and economic views.
