Submission on Economic Regulation of Transport Bill

On 24 October 2018, the Department of Transport published the revised draft Economic Regulation of Transport Bill, 2018. The Bill seeks inter alia to “consolidate the economic regulation of transport within a single framework and policy”.

The FMF is concerned that this Bill serves no other purpose than to add extra layers of bureaucracy and red tape to the transportation industry, during a time when South Africa is experiencing near-zero economic growth.
