Submission on Climate Change Bill

On 8 June 2018, the Department of Environmental Affairs invited comments on the proposed draft Climate Change Bill. This period endured until 8 August 2018. The FMF is concerned that other matters in the national political discourse, such as calls for expropriation without compensation, have overshadowed the debate on the Bill. This has predictably led to insubstantial public participation, which severely undermines the legitimacy of the proposed law.
