The 2018 - 2019 FMF R1Million Challenge is drawing to a close at midnight tomorrow 31st January. Thank you to all our friends who have donated to our challenge thus far. We are most grateful.
We have raised R886,953 to date and we are now very close to our target. Donations totalling R75,500 will take us to our goal with the challenge sponsor’s 50% included.

Any donation businesses and individuals make to the Foundation by 31 January 2019 will have 50% added by a generous sponsor.

The South African government has thrown its support behind the tyrant Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela in the midst of a constitutional crisis in that country. According to international relations minister, Lindiwe Sisulu, “South Africa’s position is that we recognise the duly-elected, democratically-elected president of Venezuela until such time as he steps down, or until such time as there is an election”. This unhesitant and unashamed backing of a figure that rivals, if not surpasses, the oppression by the likes of HF Verwoerd is a complete rejection of the values on which the Constitution, and by extension, South Africa, is based.
The humanitarian situation in Venezuela is dire. While destitution around the world is at an all-time low, in Venezuela, more children are dying on the streets from malnutrition and starvation today than in the 1990s. The Venezuelan government has stopped publishing mortality statistics in an attempt to cover up the disaster heralded by the regimes of Hugo Chavez and Nicolas Maduro for the formerly-prosperous South American state. Ninety percent of Venezuelans live below the poverty line. More than 1.5 million Venezuelans have fled the land of their birth since 2015. Tomás Páez believes 15% of the total Venezuelan population will soon reside outside their country, with no hope of return.

All individuals and companies can donate and deduct a maximum of 10% of their taxable incomes to Section 18A approved Public Benefit Organisations. The minimum annual payment we require is R250. All payments of R250 or more will be treated as a donation for which you will receive a Section 18A certificate for SARS.
