Dit word dikwels gesê dat sosialisme mooi lyk op papier maar onmoontlik is in die praktyk. Laasgenoemde is waar – sosialisme is onmoontlik in die praktyk – maar ek betwyfel eersgenoemde ook. In teorie word daar gesê dat die samelewing alle produksiemetodes saam moet besit en dus saam moet besluit oor produksie. Ag, nee dankie: Hoekom probeer ons nie eerder vryheid nie? Kapitalisme is die enigste ekonomiese ordening wat vryheid respekteer en tot voorspoed.
