Dear friend of the FMF
In this week’s feature article, Temba Nolutshungu explains how the free market makes it possible for people to use their self-interest, a part of human nature, to the benefit of themselves and those around them. Socialists who try to engineer a society in which everyone is “selfless” do not understand that self-interest plays an important role in a free, functioning society.
The virtue of self-interest – TEMBA A NOLUTSHUNGU
The capacity and need to act in one’s own self-interest is a primordial instinct, irretrievably embedded in the DNA that prescribes human conduct.
This is why the experiments of social engineers who seek to ‘create’ the selfless socialist man or woman always end in unmitigated calamity.
